Edmond Memorial names Will Delk new wrestling coach

Will Delk isn't afraid to seek challenging tasks.

His latest one is continuing the resurgence of Edmond Memorial’s wrestling program.

Memorial announced Tuesday that Delk would be its new wrestling coach after approval during a school board meeting Monday night. Delk comes to Memorial from Bridge Creek, where he spent one season as head coach and helped the program send 10 wrestlers to the Class 3A state tournament and capture its first two state champions in school history.

"I'm excited to be at a place like Edmond Memorial," Delk told The Oklahoman. "The challenges of competing at the Class 6A level are exciting, and I'm ready for the challenge."

Delk was an assistant at Piedmont before accepting the Bridge Creek position. He replaces Albert White, who left the program after two seasons to take the head coaching position at Cushing, which finished runner-up in Class 4A last season.
